Michele KuyekMichele Kuyek, Senior Designer, started out in the graphics industry by learning the almost lost art of hand lettering. After working in a local sign shop in the Interior of British Columbia, she decided to open her own business, Backroad Signs. The main body of her work included computerized sign making with a little hand lettering mixed in here and there. During her ten business years, her jobs varied considerably and included projects such as restoring an 1860’s stagecoach and making entrance signs for the towns of Pemberton and 100 Mile House.

In 2001, she sold her sign shop and quickly realized that signs were still a part of her, so she went to work at a shop in Whistler, until she gave birth to her baby boy. Since then, Michele has taken time off to be with her son, but has kept many fingers in the proverbial "Creative Pie" by filling in for the new owner of Backroad Signs every now and then, and by helping design and paint musical sets. Her latest accomplishment is winning a logo contest for the Village of Pemberton, giving the township a new look.

Michele is now mastering her design knowledge base by entering into the wonderful world of stone, lasers, and CNC routed signs.
